Confirmation is an important milestone in the spiritual journey of your child, and we are excited to offer this opportunity at Ardmore First Methodist! Beginning in January 2025, we invite your 8th grader to join our Confirmation program to deepen their faith and prepare for a life of discipleship, Christian service, and faithful obedience to Jesus.
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is a time for young people to explore and affirm their Christian faith. It is a chance for them to go deeper in their understanding of God’s Word and to choose to follow Jesus more intentionally. At Ardmore First, our Confirmation program is designed specifically for 8th graders, but older youth are also welcome to participate. While Confirmation is not required, it is a valuable opportunity for those ready to take the next step in their faith journey.
Through this program, your child will be guided by our pastoral staff, including Senior Pastor David Daniel, Associate Pastors John Hollon and Kira Calhoun-Wilson, and Interim Youth Ministry Director Danielle Brown. We are also blessed to have Scott & Lisa Pope and Brawn & Jaclyn Lide serving as Confirmation leaders.
We believe Confirmation is not just a routine event but a transformational experience empowered by the Holy Spirit. We pray that your child will grow in faith and be equipped for a lifetime of discipleship and service.
How Can You Get Involved?
We encourage both parents and students to actively engage in the Confirmation process. Here are the steps to get started:
- Attend the Mandatory Parent Meeting
- Date: Sunday, January 12th, 2025
- Time: Immediately following the Epic service
- Location: Youth Room (Lunch will be provided)
- In this meeting, we’ll provide essential resources for parents and discuss your integral role in supporting your child’s Confirmation journey.
- Register Your Child for Confirmation
- Register your child for confirmation at: Confirmation Sign-Up
- Have a Conversation About Faith
- Before Confirmation begins, we encourage you to talk with your child about their personal faith in Jesus Christ. Have they accepted Him as their Savior?
- To help guide this conversation, we’ve provided a Salvation Conversation Guide. It’s a helpful tool to discuss faith, salvation, and the commitment to follow Jesus. Regardless of where your child is on their faith journey, whether they have made a personal decision to follow Christ or are still seeking what that means, we are here to help you and your child as they grow in their understanding of God's love and grace. Pick up a Salvation Conversation Guide in the youth room.
- Set Aside Confirmation Dates
- Please ensure your child can commit to the Confirmation sessions, which will be held during the Sunday school hour (10:00-11:00 AM) in the Youth Room. We understand that conflicts may arise, and we will make accommodations as needed.
