Position: Audio-Visual (A/V) Director
Location: Ardmore, OK
Type: Part to Full Time Position
Reports To: Senior Pastor
The First Methodist Church is a church of about 500 regular attenders in Ardmore, Ok and consists of contemporary and traditional worship services. This is an actively used facility which operates 7 days a week with many weekday and evening activities.
Purpose:
Under the direction of the Senior and/or Associate Pastor, the Audio-Visual Director is to ensure that services and events across all facilities and ministries can utilize technology efficiently, effectively, and strategically to enhance the experience of those attending.
Position Summary:
Worshiping God with all that we have is imperative, no matter the role. In addition to A/V responsibilities, the Audio-Visual Director is responsible for setting the spiritual tone for the A/V Ministry.
The Audio-Visual Director will support the mission of First Methodist Church by overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the A/V Ministry regarding audio, lighting, video, and live-stream production.
The A/V Ministry volunteers must be spiritually prepared in addition to technically prepared for their role in worship. All team members will be required to take an attitude of ownership and responsibility, which must be first demonstrated by the Audio-Visual Director. Positive, humble, cooperative, and willing attitudes are imperative.
Success in this position:
While expertise in audio, lighting, and video is a must for this position, the emphasis is on empowering others to develop their skills, not doing everything yourself. The Audio-Visual Director should fully staff the needed positions and then be prepared to fill in, train, and troubleshoot when necessary.
Schedule:
The Audio-Visual Director is a part-time to full-time position (depending on experience and willingness to learn additional production/technical skills as required). Hours vary and include Sundays 7am-1pm and certain calendared events. Note that special events and large church gatherings will require additional hours or a rearranging of a typical work schedule (i.e., Weddings, funerals, Christmas Eve services, Holy Week).
Responsibilities:
1. Provide A/V support for worship services and events:
- Maintain a reliable system for providing A/V support for all worship services and events. This includes (but is not limited to) to audio mixing, monitor mixing, and audio recording (Midas M32 series sound console)
- LighHng producHon (Vista EX lighting console)
- Switching with multiple cameras (Roland video switcher)
- Video recording and live-streaming production
- ProPresenter/PowerPoint presentaHon
- Prepare stage for rehearsals, worship services, and events.
- Communication with pastors, Director of Music & Worship, ministry leaders, and event coordinators to help facilitate A/V needs.
Long-Term Goal:
Ensure that every worship service and event at First Church is vibrant, distraction-free, and technically well-supported.
2. Recruit, train, equip, schedule, and lead A/V volunteers on assignment:
- Recruit A/V volunteers for events and services.
- Train A/V volunteers to competence.
- Equip A/V volunteers with the proper tools.
- Deploy A/V volunteers to appropriate tasks.
Long-Term Goal: Create a healthy rotation of A/V volunteers who help to ensure quality, distraction-free environments for worship services and events; begin moving into spiritual mentoring relationships with volunteers.
3. Update and maintain production technologies:
- Ensure that campus technologies are in working order.
- Advise on future purchases.
- Oversee any A/V installation.
- Keep reliable records for purchases and licensing.
Long-Term Goal: Ensure that all production technologies are at or approaching industry standards.
4. In-house video production:
- Oversee video production for worship services, including capturing, live streaming, editing, and uploading to websites.
- Create a system to receive a manageable number of requests from ministries for video production.
- Carry projects from inception to final product.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must be a fully devoted Christ-follower and fully support the ministry of The First Methodist Church. This individual’s commitment to Christ will be evidenced in his/her personal life, family relationships, and ministry. His/her daily walk with God will be an example to others with which he/she interacts.
- Expert knowledge of audio systems and large-format digital consoles.
- Knowledge of Midas/Behringer sound consoles is a plus.
- Familiarity with personal monitoring and digital audio networks.
- Expert knowledge of media in the context of worship services.
- Detailed knowledge of live and streaming video environments.
- Video switcher with multiple cameras.
- Keyed computer graphics (lower thirds).
- PresentaHon software (ProPresenter).
- Detailed knowledge of projectors, displays, and video transmission.
- Expert knowledge of lighting in the context of worship services.
- Knowledge of theatrical, intelligent, LED, and lighting for video.
- Familiarity with DMX programming.
- Familiarity with Vista programming is a plus.
- Ideal candidate is highly tech-savvy and able to learn and master new technology quickly and thoroughly.
- Expert knowledge of audio/video/lighting signal flows and strong ability to troubleshoot in all these environments.

Education/Experience:
- Formal training in production or related discipline.
- Must have broad hands-on experience with technology in a modern worship production environment.
- Experience in an Audio-Visual Director role at a church with 400+ in weekly attendance preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Position: Youth Ministry Director

- Develop and lead engaging youth programs, including Sunday school, Wednesday activities, and Sunday night gatherings.

- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers, and handle the youth ministry budget.
- Collaborate closely with the Family Ministry Director and our parent advisory board to ensure a thriving youth ministry.

- Confirmation Oversight: Manage the Confirmation process and student integration.

- A college degree and experience in youth ministry are preferred.
